Health
In 2007, CPD in collaboration with the villages in Efa Community – Etinan LGA, initiated the building of the Health Centre funded by the MPP6. Since then CPD has been involved with HIV/AIDS sensitization, VCT Voluntary Counseling and testing.
On June 4, 2008 the free screening was supported by a team of the Laboratory unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Uyo. Out of the 26 tested, 2 were confirmed positive. Referrals were made; currently they are back to their normal life and had been consistent in taking medication.
On Thursday, December 4, 2008 Society for Family Health (SFH) in partnership with CPD/EWODA (Efa Women Development Association) conducted a free screening/HIV/AIDS sensitization outreach. 61 person were tested, 3 were confirmed positive and were referred to the Health Facility for treatment. Though we lost one (not from HIV/AIDS) the others are still being managed and supervised by us.
18th June 2009 CPD and Efa Women Development Association (EWODA) was involved in another sensitization programme in partnership with a team from the Federal Medical Centre, Uyo. Areas covered included HIV/AIDS screening; free testing, malaria test, blood pressure screening, blood sugar test and general health counselling. The primary health coordinators from the LG headquarters were involved. Support was also given by the late Udo Eno family in memory of their late Mum scheduled to be buried the next day. The primary aim of CPD in this sector is to provide the rural areas with knowledge of healthy living and linkages to the nearest existing health facilities.
